Opportunities for young people

Young Hammersmith & Fulham Foundation (YHFF) is a charity with the mission to support Opportunities for Young People in collaboration with its Members, Partners and Supporters.

How and why

Do we support?

  • Income Generation
  • Training for Staff & Volunteers
  • Organisational Development
  • Grants
  • Information
  • Networking

Established in the context of reduced public funding, we are part of the Young Peoples Foundation (YPF) model, working alongside newly formed foundations in other London Boroughs and across the country.

YHFF has been established with infrastructure funding awarded from John Lyon’s Charity as well as the local authority of Hammersmith and Fulham. We were formally registered as a charity in February 2017.

We will do this with excellent branding, first class digital footprints, excellent relationship and tangible benefits such as bringing funding into the sector and offering training opportunities.

Do we do it?

To be more precise with our solutions, we will make informed decisions by collecting and analysing:

  • Youth Voice
  • Data & Evidence
  • Members feedback
  • Partners insight
  • Supporters wishes

Our mission and vision

Supporting equality for all young people who live, play, learn or work in Hammersmith and Fulham.

  • Giving an equal voice in leading the YHFF model to all members and their participants, no matter on size, through peer research, consultation and service design.
  • Developing the capacity, quality and sustainability of the children & young people sector through training, information sharing, advice, networks and grants.

We will empower young people of Hammersmith and Fulham to become all that they want & need to be.

  • Supporting businesses to engage and invest in the next generation with access to future talent through volunteering, mentoring, professional advice and financial investment.
  • Brokering funds for the sector in Hammersmith & Fulham through consortia grant applications, corporate investment and individual philanthropy.

Our team

We have a strong Trustee Board and a wider steering group that include representatives from relevant organisations in each local area.

This includes the local voluntary sector, the local authority, police, Clinical Commissioning Groups, Housing Associations, schools, faith groups, uniformed groups, football clubs, sports organisations, the corporate sector and funder representation.

We have seven highly experienced trustees, a working group, a new CEO and much positive support from a wider range of stakeholders (growing all the time).

John Lyon’s Charity

John Lyon’s Charity gives grants to benefit children and young people up to the age of 25 who live in nine boroughs in northwest London: Barnet, Brent, Camden, Ealing, Harrow, Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster and our very own Hammersmith & Fulham.

The Charity’s mission is to promote the life-chances of children and young people through education.

Since 1991, the Charity has distributed over £100million to a range of services for young people, including youth clubs, arts projects, counselling initiatives, childcare and parental support schemes, sports programmes and academic bursaries.

“John Lyon’s Charity takes great pleasure in welcoming YHFF to the Young People’s Foundation (YPF) family! The YPFs are locally based, cross sector partnerships that seek to find collaborative solutions to the issues facing the Children and Young People’s (CYP) Sector. After 26 years of funding children and youth groups in Hammersmith and Fulham, John Lyon’s Charity hopes the YHFF will become an integral part of the local CYP sector.”
